August already?

Can you believe it's August 1st? Seems like just yesterday that Benny and I were frantically moving the last few things out of our apartment in Virginia to catch a cab to the airport and leave for Kingston! Now we've been here more than 6 months! Pretty soon we'll even be sponsoring a new arrival. That's what happens with a staff that is constantly moving around. People who've been here 6 months are practically considered veterans.

Today is Jamaican Independence Day, so Benny and I are home from work, enjoying the mid-week holiday. Work has been less stressful lately, since I moved to the immigrant visa section. For various reasons, working in that section is a better fit for me mentally and is not nearly as draining as the work in the nonimmigrant visa section. Other than that, things continue pretty much the same here. We enjoy the opportunity to get out of the city on weekends and are looking forward to a little weekend trip for our anniversary. We're doing very well, but we're both really missing our families. This is one of the closest posts to the US that we could have, but it's still far away. (Everyone reading: Hi! We miss you!!! We're always thinking of you, even though we can't be home with you).
