Happy 9th of July!
The US Embassy's Fourth of July party is one of the biggest social events of the year in almost every country. This year, our ambassador decided to go ALL OUT and have a huge, New Orleans-themed bash--complete with some of New Orlean's top chefs flown in for the event. We had shrimp remoulade from Galatoire's, beignets (fried doughy goodness) from Cafe du Monde, gumbo from Jacques'-Imo, Bananas Foster from Antoine's--basically a who's who and what's what of New Orleans cooking. Plus giant heads and other assorted figures from the float-making folks at Mardi Gras World.

A little scary, non?
Waiting with our colleagues, June and Jason, to go through security
On the very windy deck, overlooking Kingston Harbor
Some of the 1000 guests watching the impressive fireworks show
